Q: How can I get there from Bengaluru, where to stay?

A: There are two main routes to choose from, one via Yediyur/Turuvekere on NH4 & 75 and the other via Tumakuru/Gubbi on NH4 & 73

We suggest you travel Friday eve, and plan to stay overnight either of the below
+ Camping at Sarigehalli (limited designated spots, you bring your gear, porta-potty accessible)
+ Turuvekere (~10 KM to start and finish line)
+ Tumakuru (~50KM to start and finish line)
+ Yediyur/Bellur cross (~50 KM to start and finish line)

Q: Why is the event called RangaRun ?

A: Our event is named after the chief deity of our village "Sri Ranganatha swamy", for whom rest of the village will perform special rituals per age old Mahalaya Amavase traditions, including Ganesha Visarjan. This will be on the eve of Marathon, registered runners are invited to stay back and enjoy the festivities

Q: Will there be drinking water along the route ?

A: Yes. All support stations will carry pure drinking water (RO filtered). If you are specific, please kindly carry your hydration pack(s). We kindly request not to bring single use plastic bottles.

Q: Will there be restrooms along the way ?

A: Yes. Porter potty systems will be placed strategically along the route, placement mile marker information to be communicated as we get closer to the event.

Q: What kind of energy supplements are served along the route ?

A: We are providing 

Q: Is the course fully paved ?

A: No. it's a combination of paved roads and tractor trails as we get close to mother nature. Hence, we kindly suggest you to be ready for water crossing, and possible rain causing muddy tracks at times.

Q: Why is entry fee 500  and 750 ?

A: We organized Ranga run 2023 with no entry fee, and collected feedback. One of the questions we asked them was how much is appropriate and overwhleming majority choose options 500, 1000 or its Priceless :) - considering that input, we choose 500 for 10K and 750 for Half Marathon. If you are eager to run, but unable to afford please write to us we may be able to make some exceptions. Likewise, if you like to support us feel free to pay more, we promise to use funds effectively. 

Q: Why is entry fee different for 10K and HM ?

A: We consider first 500 towards shared provisions for both runners, that is best in class tee-shirt (not a throaway), medal, start and finish line support. Extra 250 delta for half marathon is due extended distance and aid stations along that route dedicated for half marathon only.

Q: Will the entry fee increase as we get closer to event ?

A: Yes, we increase 2 weeks prior to registration close. And registration closes 2 weeks prior to event

Q: I have not participated in organized marathon before, how can I train for RangaRun ?

A: You are born to run :) - do look for preparation schedules online that you are comfortable with to follow OR if you prefer a personal focused coaching that can help you train for success, please kindly reach out to our affiliation www.oduba.run, they have helped and continue to help many like you.

Q: Why is registration capped at 150 participants ?

A: This also is one of the things we asked our 2023 runners as feedback, majority preferred strength to between 150 to 300. We also discussed it internally, and felt 150 is the correct balance to provide one of kind experience with minimal crowd and experience village ambience, we may to increase the count tiny bit based on runner feedback in upcoming years.

Q: What happens after 150 participants ?

A: We will be maintaining a wait list, and notify registrants with confirm on first come first serve order if there are any cancellations

Q: When does registration close ?

A: September 15th, 2024 or when registration reaches 150 entries - exceptions possible due cancellations, please write to us if registering after

Q: Will the run be postponed if weather does not permit ?

A: Rain or Shine, RangaRun will be held as planned bring your wet gear

Q: Do I need to pay extra for event photograhs ?

A: No. We keep it simple, our photography partners will stand and strategic picturesque location and take pics as you focus on foot stride, please make sure to smile when you see them :)  - Photos will be ready for download with in a week at no cost.

Q: Why not full marathon or 5K ?

A: To keep our promise to deliver unique fully supported event and more pro runners, for we are keeping it to 10K and half marathon only. In future years we plan to add Full marathon, but no plans for 5K

Q: Are there any hidden fees ?

A: No

Q: How are you funding the event ?

A: We are a contributing core comitted to self fund the event, runner registration fee and sponsorship does take us long way.

Q: Is there any price money ?

A: No, we want our run to be a rejuvenating experience - timing chart will show best times (if you like to brag !). Also, our course is around open farmland with so many short cuts, it is not practical to spending immense monitoring resources to have a fair competition

Q: When am I suppose to pick up my Bib ?

A: Likely on Raceday that is Oct 5th, 2024. We are coordinating with local facilities such as hotels runners might stay at to organize Bib pickup ahead of time in Tiptur, and Turuvekere - information to be communicated to registered runners.

Q: Are participant runs timed with timing chip ?

A: Yes

Q: Is this Marathon a Boston Marathon Qualifier ?

A: No. We aspire to be one day

Q: Where can one find lodging or place to stay night before ?

A: Nearby cities are Turuvekere, Tipturu,  Tumkuru, Kunigal and other places offer lodging facilities.

Q: Can we camp at the village?

A: Yes. For limited aspirants who can bring thier own camping gear, write to use at info@rangarunmarathon.com to confirm logistics.

Q: What time is event starting ?

A: We plan to start at Dawn - exact time to be communicated as we get close to the race.

Q: Is this a Charity Initiative ?

A: Yes. Inaugural run is an exception, which is organized with own contributions. Any excess funds generated through donations (sponsors and runners) will be considered for village well-fare projects e.g., temple or cultural artifact restoration.

Q: Is there active wild life in the area ?

A: No, as run is around farm land - but we feel fortunate to have plenty of peacocks and other bird species around, which enhance early morning ambience. To be factual, please note that due deforestation in recent years there have been very rare spotting of leopards after mid night hours in remote areas, please write to us further questions if any.

Q: I do not want to or cannot Run, how can be part of the initiative ?

A: We welcome all - you can help us by volunteering, cheer leading runners along the course, share information about the run with others or any means you seem good for the initiative - reach us at info@rangarunmarathon.com 

Q: What experience does team have with Marathons ?

A: Great question. 2024 is our second year. However, key members of our team have participated in such events (listed below) and have carefully observed, and conversed with organizers on "how to" organize an event like RangaRun - hope our website reflects that maturity.

Q: Is this Run organized by a Non profit or NGO ?

A: We are working through process register ourselves as Non-profit/NGO. As of now, We are a registered trust "Rangarun Marathon Trust" operating with responsible office bearers - President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer. 

All donations and proceedings will be used to organize the run, remaining funds if any will be used towards our village community projects.

Q: I am uanble to run this year, will I lose my registration fee ?

A: No. You can either transfer registration to next year, or transfer to a friend/family - write to us and we will honor your request. Unfortunately, we wont be able to give cash back
